Our trip to Asia had to be short, as we had to be back in the US in early April. So our stays in the various countries were necessarily brief. We stayed longest in Thailand, and found it to be a restful, restorative interlude during a very stressful time for us. We landed in Phuket, and spent a day exploring the old town, before hopping a ferry to Krabi, where we stayed for three weeks. What a lovely country and what kind and gentle people! We truly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful land. 

We arrived in Phuket while Chinese New Year celebrations were still in full swing.

It seemed every area was specially decorated . . .

. . . even the Thai Museum . . .

. . . and dragons ruled the city!

We stayed at a small but luxurious resort, The Elements, on the outskirts of Krabi.

We had a chance to get acquainted with some of the neighbors . . .

. . . and even participated in some group bathing activities!

The Phi Hua To (literally "skull") cave is on the Tha Pring river. It's got alcoves with prehistoric paintings on the ceilings and walls. It's a serene and stunning day kayak trip!

Ao Nang is a bustling area, with large and small boats offering trips to the islands, shops galore, outdoor markets . . .

. . . and small shrines placed conveniently along the roads.

Our stay in Krabi ended much too soon. While it was hot and humid during our stay, we loved the people, the culture, the food, and the setting!

We had a day in Bangkok before our flight to Taipei, and had a chance to walk around and take in some of the scenery, including Benchasiri Park.
