We spent our last few days in Canada in Montreal, exploring the city. Montreal is situated on the Island of Montreal, and has at its heart Mount Royal, after which it is named. It's the 2nd-most populous city in Canada, after Toronto. From Montreal, we made our way back to Gray, Maine, arriving on August 11th, one week shy of a year from the day we left!

Montreal does not have the height restrictions that were in place in Ottawa, so there tend to be a lot of skyscrapers.

Montreal has its own Notre Dame Cathedral, dedicated in 1829. It's quite lovely, and dominates the eastern side of Place D'armes square in the Old Town.

The view of the city from the top of Mount Royal is breath-taking.
