Paris

Cindy and I got married on December 29th, 2004. We chose that date because we'd gotten into the habit of going somewhere new and interesting for the New Year each year. So we decided to get married in the waning days of 2004, and spend the New Year in Paris. We made the choice to eschew wheeled transportation, other than the taxi to and from the airport. Instead we got sturdy walking shoes and got around via "urban hiking". We covered a lot of ground, and had a wonderful time. Vive la France! Vive la crepes!
Our hotel was about a block and a half from the Eiffel Tower. How could we not get a shot of us with our new neighbor?
And of course, seeing as how it's the City of Love , . .
The Rue Cler, right around the corner from our apartment. We spent much time at the brasseries on the Rue. Note the nonchalant cat on the ledge.
De Gaulle keeping an eye on his city.
First stop, Le Louvre!
Resting up before checking out the musee . . .
A true work of art. Oh, and a bunch of statues . . .
His legs probably never get cold.
The Aphrodite of Milos. We discovered where her arms went when we were in Greece.
A captivating place to be, day or night.
Traipsing along la rive gauche.
Pretty sure I could live here . . .
Liberal Bruant, architect of Les Invalides, now part of the Musee de l'Armee.
Dome of the Musee de l'Armee.
Two lovers under the watchful eye of Napoleon.
The Little Corporal keeping an eye on his domain from his perch at the Musee.
Musee de la Moyen Age (Museum of the Middle Ages)
Also known as Musee de Cluny. It was once the residence of the abbots of Cluny. Pretty good life for an abbot.
The Musee houses artifacts from France's Gothic age.
Busts of the Kings of Judea. And some guy from Minnesota.
Our Lady of Paris.
Notre Dame on a beautiful winter day.
Carolus Magnus Keeping an eye on his domain.
A handsome young couple of honeymooners hanging out at Notre Dame.
The lovely park Bois de Boulogne in the heart of the city.
Cindy sneaking a peek in the park.
